Cookie Policy
Good News: We Don't Use Cookies
Private Authenticator does not use cookies, tracking pixels, web beacons, or any other tracking technologies. We respect your privacy and have designed the application to function without any need for cookies.
What We Use Instead
Local Storage (IndexedDB): We use your browser's built-in IndexedDB to store your encrypted 2FA data locally on your device. This is not a cookie and cannot be accessed by other websites.
Session State: App state (like whether you're logged in) is kept in memory only and cleared when you close the application.
What We Don't Do
Browser Local Storage
Important: While we don't use cookies, we do use your browser's IndexedDB for local storage. This is fundamentally different from cookies:
- Data never leaves your device
- Cannot be accessed by other websites
- Not sent to any servers
- You have full control over this data
- Can be cleared by you at any time
Managing Your Data
You can manage your locally stored data by:
- Using the app's built-in clear data function
- Clearing your browser's storage for this site
- Using your browser's developer tools to inspect IndexedDB
- Uninstalling the application entirely
Third-Party Services
Since we don't use any third-party services, analytics, or external resources, there are no third-party cookies or tracking mechanisms present in our application.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever need to use cookies or similar technologies in the future (which we don't plan to), we will update this policy and notify users accordingly.
